It plays a key role in the formation of individuals identity, world view and the way they relate to others. The diversification of society has influenced the counselling profession in relation to services, methods, practitioners and clients. The face of counselling has shifted over the years to now encompass people from all parts of society. Here at Citizen this is reflected in the wide range of styles, approach, theoretical positions, languages, and backgrounds of our associates. It is this vivid environment, that is the driving force behind this conference based on “Diversity in Counselling”. This will provide a platform for counselling researchers and practitioners to come together, to present, discuss and exchange ideas around important themes. Based on the value sharing our different lived experiences, cultures, languages, beliefs, background and world views. With a focus around how this impacts the way we work as practitioners, the clients we work with, and both ours and their experiences of therapy. We are all unique and as counsellors it is important that we are able and feel comfortable with identifying differences, accepting them and being able to work with them.

This experiential one-year weekend modular training serves as a solid foundation for those wishing to study this lively and enthralling therapy. The training is designed to appeal to those beginning working towards BACP Accreditation or UKCP Registration whilst also satisfying those who wish to take individual workshops as Continued Professional Development.
