Dudley Council wanted to work differently with its partners, communities and residents. They decided to work together to do things differently in Dudley to achieve longer, safer, healthier lives for all.

Dudley’s Innovation Fund

This new fund allocated money to new innovative community projects by investing in the local voluntary and community sector to boost support for  adults, children and young people across the borough. The council are looked for groups and organisations to bid for a share of the funding to deliver projects that help improve the lives of the people of Dudley.

What did the project involve?

Citizen Coaching works with local community organisations from our Dudley base at  DY1 community centre. Our innovative project combines coaching and counselling for anger management with an only e programme, delivered through the IZONE young peoples portal that is free for all young people to use. The programme also developed to help patrol staff and other professionals who work with young people to increase their skills and confidence in delivering anger management interventions.

Who was involved?

We worked with local organisations the NHS, Youth Offending Teams and schools to enable young people at risk at crime and/or exclusion develop better  anger management skills, and positive behaviours.

What were the outcomes?

The programme runs throughout 2019 and programme shave been greeted positively by young people and their supporters.

How could the this project be applied to me or my organisation?

Citizen Coaching can grow your teams capability to support young people and adults with anger management issues. We can also develop multi-platform and innovative solutions to other mental health solutions.
